My First Day At Labrador State School

Today we had 40 minutes to write about our first day at school. From our writing we are going to set some goals for the term.

Jumping out of the car with my mum and my sister  excited for the day ahead i walked into my new school. I had packed my lunch and drink bottle into my new big bag it was like my bag was hungry because it was really full, my mum had bought my a sun protective hat so i wouldn’t turn red. I was carrying all my books and pencils it was like a rock it was so fun in my hand reading to start class.

My teachers name was Ms. Tessa she looked very scary but was actually really kind. She welcomed me in saying “Hello Taylah my name is Ms. Tessa” i just replied saying “hi”.My stomach was just full of butterflies once i saw the rest of my class and teacher aids.

Sitting down wondering what i could be doing at kindy like running around, and playing, but i had to sit and listen to the teacher ALL morning. Day dreaming and only hearing parts of the lesson Ms Tessa was Teaching the class. Looking at the class and sitting with my friend Olivia i think that they were missing kindy as well?.

Morning tea or known as Little Lunch we had a mini rainforest that sits in the middle of school, that all the juniors played in. We all had to play together in a big so the big kids didn’t split us up and we didn’t get lost as a group i can’t remember what all their names were i can only remember Olivia. So lunch time was over and it was back into class for us and we started learning again.

We went through lunch and then after lunch we all got picked up ready to go home i felt so tired like a sloth ready to have nap. Getting home and telling my nan about my first day at school was Awesome and my new friend Olivia. Now i wonder how come i had butterflies.

Reflection On The 1981 Springbok Tour

Paragraph A First attempt
Hearing chants as a in unison was annoying, All the rugby fans wanted was just to watch the rugby team play the game. I had got taken out of school early to watch the Hamilton Game in the year of 1981.It was a cold day with strong winds. Clouds everywhere in sight with people stacked in every corner of my eye.

Paragraph A Second Attempt
Hearing chants as a in unison was humongously interrupting. All the rugby fans wanted to do was to watch the rugby teams play the game. I had got picked up from  school early to watch the Hamilton Game in the year of 1981.  It was a freezing day with howling winds. Clouds everywhere in eye view, with people stacked in every corner of the Hamilton Stadium.

Paragraph B Attempt 1
The game never went on the protesters got what they wanted and stop the Hamilton game, but if they had of let the game go on the would of been no head injuries and no can throwing towards the protesters. The stadium could of been much cleaner without cans all over the field.
Paragraph B Attempt 2
The game stopped the protesters got what they wanted and cancelled  the Hamilton game, but if they had of let the game go on the would of been no injuries at all and no can throwing towards the protesters n the rugby field. The stadium could of been much cleaner without cans all over the field.

Springbok Tour ( As A Rugby Fan.

The protesters walked into the middle of the rugby field demanding the game to stop to try and get the chant they said in to our heads!. There were two different chants they said
1 " 1 2 3 4 we don't want no racist tour"
2 " Remember Soweto remember"

We were throwing cans at them to get off the field so the game could continue but they weren't budging. Outside of the stadium they were minor people with head injuries with blood dripping from their head but that's what happens if you want to fight the police and disobey them.

The game never went on the protesters got what they wanted and stop the Hamilton game, but if they had of let the game go on the would of been no head injuries and no can throwing towards the protesters. The stadium could of been much cleaner without can all over the field.

1981 springbok Tour ( As a Protester

1981 the day of the springbok game in Hamilton. There was Grey clouds heavy winds with a crowd of thousands. I stood with my mother outside the Hamilton game waiting for us to protest for us to stand for the rights of the black people in South Africa.

Seeing the others with all the signs banners and poster were amazing, there was so many of us sticking up for the rights they deserved.Feeling nervous scared and anxious all at the same time was awkward.

Running out to the field with cans coming from all directions we stood there willing to protest even with can coming from all directions. Course language Foul Sayings with put downs that werent very nice

The crowd of protesters weren't just protesting for anything. We were protesting for south Africans as they couldn't vote over there.  There was also the reason to put pressure on the South  African government to stop apartheid.

Martin Luther King

Martin Luther King

This week was the 50th anniversary for when Martin Luther King gave his speech " I Have A Dream!." The speech was given on the reasons of civil rights towards the black people, as many whites were so against the blacks. Black people and white people couldn't go to the same school or anything they had to be segregated.

Martin was born on the 15 of January 1929. Growing up  his father Martin Luther King Sr. was a Minster. His mother was Alberta Williams King. Martin then had four kids and went on to be a Lawyer and an Activist to change America to get equality.

Through the coming years of Martin, America was Unbelievably Racist. On the bus if the white couldn't sit on a seat or had no seat the would tell the black people to get up and move, the blacks then had to get up and move to another seat or stand. Blacks and Whites had to use different toilets. Schools were segregated so there were Blacks and Whites school. Black people were in poverty while the whites were in Prosperity.

Martin fought and fought and finally got equality between the both Black and Whites. Blacks are still in poverty but there was a big change in the profits of black people. Blacks and whites can now got to school together toilets can be used by anyone, black people can also sit anywhere on the bus.

But in the end after all the trouble Martin went through, the bombing off his house and getting stabbed while working through his paper work for his job he died. He got assassinated by James early ray By a 30 calibre rifle and was pronounced dead at 7:05 April 5th 1968.

Movie Reflection :D

Laita, Serenity, and Sislia from Team 5 PES on Vimeo.

Serenity Sisilia and Laita's movie was good. I was a bit tipsy on the message of they movie. Thinking about what the could of been about or what story it was trying to tell was as clear as it could of been. The one thing you could of really worked on was different angles and scenes also in different parts of the school not just the one place.Sound Quality was excellent and so was the steadiness but that was all. There was some emotion but no acting in the film, there was no interaction with the characters.

I think they could of put in some graphics and detail towards the movie to make it alot more interesting and more attracting to the audience. There was no scenes just one mid shot that lasted thought the whole movie, but overall it was nice that you sang it and i think it was fantastice! .
1. Message
Think about what the message was/should have been.
How well did the movie convey it?

2. Filming techniques
Angles/Shots
Steadiness/Use of tripod
Sound quality

3. Acting
Use of expression to convey different emotions
Convincing interaction between characters (if there is any)

4. Graphics
What is the quality? Are they detailed? Do they include detailed backgrounds
Have they been drawn not traced?

5. Animations
Are the animations realistic/smooth
Are they complex

6. Flow
Do the scenes progress logically? Does the movie connect well from one scene to the next?

7.  Key Competencies (For those analysing their own movie only)
How well did your group work together? Did everyone contribute effectively and do their share? Were you able to work through disagreements when they arose or did they become an issue?
Did you manage your time well? If not what do you need to do differently next time?

Relfection

Reflection

This week B2 was in the literacy strand and working with Ms. Squires. We were learning about Nelson Mandela and about his life and with him fighting for civil rights for South Africa. As the week came to an end we had to do the two circles, meaning two circles that merged together then with the middle part drawing what's the same and the on the right side of about Nelson and then the left side about Martin Luther King Jr. Seeing what they had common and different was really interesting. On Wednesday our task was to create a rap involvng Nelson life and Martins. Working on it was easy because i was working with laita so my job was to find information and beats and Latias was to just write whatever she could.
This reflection was written by me and i had a great time with Ms. Squires

Matariki Lights

Deciding what to wear was easy. I was getting ready to go to the Matariki lights on Maybury by the Ruapotaka Marae. My mum had been up since five O'clock so she was really tired and told me to ask my aunty if I could go with them down to the lights. I ran to my Aunty's house with a big fat grin wondering what could we see there. Walking down it was a little walk so we were there in a SNAP. Having to walking down the path with no lights I was wondering were the lights were? thinking to myself "where are they?'.

Then there they were behind the bushes just waiting the for us. We stopped in amazement it was just like a mini Hamilton Christmas lights Festival. So many colours, but there was on ornament that stood out it was a GIGANTIC sign reading MATARIKI in bold red letters it was really cool. Dordeling along the path way I recognised some people they were friends I couldn't miss then for anything.

There were three other Ornaments that stood out and they were
1. A line of the seven sister Tupu-a-nuku Tupu-a-Rangi Ururangi Matariki Waiti Waita and Waipunarani it was very creative
2. Shaped as a taniwha was a Mythical dragon type species coloured Green Red Blue Pink and Yellow
3. Disco ball spinning in the tree it was So funny seeing the littles running around it was Great

I Had and awesome night out and carnt wait to see what they have installed or next year

RedRiding Hood Twist

In a world of normalness there are animals that talk just like you and I. Vicious humans that can't talk eat cup cakes and have a really sore bite.

Little Wolf Charlie, so innocent and charming, lived in  a house with her parents and two sibilings.

One day her Granny was very sick. from old age and sickness. She had the flu. She thought, “Who wouldn't get the flu in cold wintery weather like this. It is absolutely treacherous.

Charlie’s mum asked her to take a  basket full of meat to her for a treat to cheer her up. Filling up the basket with everything delicious. Charlie thought to herself, “It's an awful day but i've been stuck in this house for too long”

Charlie was told to stay on the mud do not follow the path as bad things happen when you follow the footpath. She started her journey.

Walking in the murky mud felt slippery and disgustingly cold and wet. One foot after another she felt like there was still miles and miles to go like walking from country to country, although she had never done it felt like that.

STOP NOW “what's in the basket” the horrific looking person said.
“Why do you need to know its not for you anyway and even if it was you would never get it”
“hAHAHA you can't get me”

Running as fast as she could she reached her grandma's house running through the lounge kitchen and hallway. reaching her grandmas room she tells her grandma a list
“ you have little eyes ears mouth and body have you been working out”
“Well yes if that makes you quite and makeS you hurry up and give me that basket you mother has gave you to give to me then YES” the beady eyed human said
“Wait my Grandma would never ever ever say that to
me” Charlie sweetly but harshly said the the beady eyed person
“COP PIGS THIS PERSON IS TRYING TO IMPERSONATE MY GRANDMA”
cop pigs running 1 2 3 with their loaded cream guns no one like cream
“Well i do my favorite thing in the world”
“NOOOOO”

Now i'm going to have a feast on all of you humans
“NUM NUM NUM NUM NUM”

Little charlie was believed to have died and still lays in the stomach of the wolf. They also never lived happily ever after and would never ever ever live happily ever after

William

Will.i.am

Hearing that the kapahaka and hiphop groups were performing for someone very special I was feeling nervous.Thinking to myself "Who could it be out of anyone in the whole wide world".So then the special half an hour assembly came and Mr. Burt told us that it was someone from the “Black-eyed-peas”. So I was guessing that i was going to be “Furgie” but everyone else was thinking it was going to be Will.i.am.

Mr. Burt then showed us the picture and guess who it was
WILL.I.AM. It was a long wait for him to get to school but finally he came. Just after that the kapa haka and hip hop had finished he got up and talked.

He started with his family. His family was very poor and didn't get much income. No one had a job and he his brothers and sisters were raised with no dad.He told us that most people in his neighbourhood would goo to jail. But his music saved his life.

As he grew up his dream job was to be able to look after his mother. All his other friends had the same dream and that was to look after their family and mothers too. Thats how he managed to look after his mother through his music. He also had a dream for a job and it was to do science maths engineering and technology.

Will.i.am also gave a very inspirational talk to the year eight.

He had started a foundation that was called "I Am Angle".

here is the link for things bout the talk.......
